MISSION STATEMENT
Serving Scottsdale and surrounding communities, Greasepaint Youtheatre programming is designed to develop the life skills and aesthetic knowledge that Youth will carry with them both as Artists and Audiences of Tomorrow.
Our mission is to provide unique and compelling theatre experiences that educate and challenge young people to stretch the boundaries of imagination and awareness and achieve a positive sense of self.

Maureen Dias
A position she held in 05-06 as well. She has worked as an actor and Resident Artist with the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Childsplay and Valley elementary, middle and high schools. Dias studied acting at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and holds a BLS from Arizona State University. She is a member of Theatre Artists Studio in Phoenix where she directs and performs when time allows. Working with Greasepaint allows Maureen to work with the two things most important to her – kids and theatre.
Tracy Bailey - President Joined Greasepaint’s Board of Directors during the 2010-11 Season. Tracy has 12 years experience in non-profit management, marketing, communications and event planning. She's served the non-profit community in a variety of roles such as Director of Development for BASIS Schools Inc., Program Coordinator for the Joe Foss Institute and Director of Communications at the Dream Foundation. She is currently doing freelance work in communications and design and spending as much time as possible at Greasepaint Youtheatre. Tracy received her bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of California Santa Barbara and spent the following five years performing in Los Angeles and working as a Production Coordinator at Universal Studios Hollywood. Tracy enjoys acting, directing and writing for theatre and other creative projects.
Anna Lock, Vice President graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BA in Education. She taught middle school at the Tesseract School in Paradise Valley and has designed and led many creative writing workshops at various schools in the valley. Anna is currently enjoying her time at home with her two wonderful children, Berkeley and Reno, both happy "Greasepaint kids". Anna is currently serving as Greasepaint's Volunteer Coordinator, a job she loves and looks forward to continuing next season!
Barry Smith, Treasurer is an independent consultant and President of BFS (Bankcard Fraud Solutions) Consulting Inc. He has 35 years experience working for major card issuing organizations, in the US and overseas and has developed many of the successful programs utilized by the card industry today to reduce card fraud risk and losses. He has worked for MasterCard International and has served on numerous Visa International Risk Committees. He has successfully served as an expert witness, for Banks, in defending them against major lawsuits relating to card fraud matters.
Barry is a grandfather of one of Greasepaint’s young actresses and has become the unofficial photographer of Greasepaint’s productions. He has served as a founding Board member for Summit School of Ahwatukee, served on Gold Medal Gymnastics Support Organization’s Board of Directors and currently serves on his HOA Board,
Mary Karlsson has over twenty years experience as a teacher, reading specialist, curriculum developer, researcher, technology coordinator, educational technology specialist, television host, and author. She began her career teaching kindergarten through eighth grade in New York City, San Francisco Bay Area and Silicone Valley. She received her B.A from Boston College and her Masters and Doctorate degrees from University of California, Berkeley. As owner of Karlsson Consulting she has provided educational consulting services to school districts, state departments, ministries of education and high tech companies nationally and internationally. She has sat on many advisory boards for various companies and non-profit entities.
Dr. Riordan Karlsson has presented at national and international education and technology conferences. She has published in the National Reading Conference Yearbook and authored many professional books, which are used in classrooms nation-wide, including one for the International Reading Association.
Chelsea Halmi
In Memory of our supporter, friend and Board Member - Mr. David Strang passed away in2012. In addition to joining the Greasepaint BOD, he was active in community affairs. He served on the City of Tempe Transportation Commission, and was a member of the board of directors for the Tempe Convention and Visitors Bureau. He served on the boards of Friends of the Tempe Center for the Arts, the Tempe Community Council, and the Tempe Human Relations Commission. He was past-president of Brookmore Apartments Corporation, a California-based non-profit that owns and manages several apartment communities for low-income seniors and families.
In addition to Greasepaint, he and his wife (Ellie support Arizona Theater Company, Arizona Opera and Childsplay. He held a BA degree from Illinois Wesleyan University (1960) and a master's degree from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (1965). He worked several years as a Lutheran minister serving parishes in the metropolitan Detroit area. Everyone at Greasepaint will miss David and his wonderful work on behalf of our young people in this community.
