Thank you to these organizations and to the many individuals who have donated to SCP/Greasepaint since March! When we begin our new shows on the Courtyard Stage, look for our Gratitude Wall thanking each and every one of you!
Hello Greasepaint Community! I’m coming to you from our beautiful outdoor stage – on a gorgeous November day in Arizona – to talk about gratitude. For those of you who don’t know me, My name is Maureen Dias-Watson, artistic director at Scottsdale Community Players/ Greasepaint and I am just here to thank you for the outpouring of support you have shown us!
Eight months ago, when the covid-19 pandemic began, we did the unthinkable – shut down our theatre, like so many others.
Since then, we’ve done everything we could think of to give kids the chance to continue to perform SAFELY. First online, with virtual camps and classes. Next, performing live streamed radio broadcasts. Then, with the City of Scottsdale’s approval –and our donor’s generosity — we built this outdoor stage. We produced 5 full-length plays with small casts, to audiences of 40 masked guests in socially-distanced seating. We also produced six showcases, featuring local youth highlighting their vocal and dance skills . We had more than 150 kids on this stage over the last few months and we did it safely. A lot to be grateful for!
We are grateful for your donations that kept us thriving — in a new way.
We are grateful for the grants and arts support money that has kept us afloat, and allowed us to invest in new ideas and to hire artists and designers to bring those new ideas to life.
We are grateful to be able to give kids the opportunity to express themselves during an uncertain and scary time.
We are grateful for watching shows as a community, even in a distanced way.
We are grateful for musical theatre kids who found new inspiration in performing without singing.
We are grateful for the artists, technicians, directors, and stage managers, who thought creatively. And who didn’t give up.
We are grateful that the show has gone on, AND will continue to do so!
Thanks to Arizona weather, we have an outdoor season ahead of us from January through May! We also have a few surprised in store for you both in person and livestreamed. And we are ready and waiting to welcome you back INSIDE as soon as it is safe to do so! There will be wonderful surprise for all of you then too!
But without full houses, our ticket revenue is limited. If you’d like to help, we are running a GRATEFUL CAMPAIGN 100 from 100 – that’s 100 donations of 100 dollars each. This runs from Thanksgiving to the end of the year. The 10,000 dollars we raise will help to carry us through the winter and spring – to a time when we hope we are all together again inside the Historic Stagebrush Theatre! . Thank you, Greasepaint family for supporting our 100 from 100 campaign. We are grateful for YOU.
Support our creative and talented kids!
