We wanted to reach out with an update about where we are at operationally as we approach summer. As you know, Greasepaint has made all decisions in the past 2 months with our community’s safety as the top priority. This remains our focus, as we cautiously look to re-opening some activities on a modified basis. With this in mind, we are happy to announce a revised version of our summer programming for the first two weeks in June:
June 1 -15 (virtual)
New Classes are now open for registration NOW and space is extremely LIMITED for the weeks of June 1st and June 8th
June 15 and beyond- ( We would love to hold this and the July camps in theater if possible – If that is not possible, we will modify these camps to be done virtually as well, and will notify those registered to offer new options! We will continually review all health updates and guidelines as we move forward to make decisions about the rest of the summer and will update everyone again in two weeks!)
When we are able to open again, whether on June 15th, July 1st, August 1st, or another date, Greasepaint will follow the CDC guidelines and beyond to keep all participants in our theatre safe!
GALA UPDATE: the gala will still be our first event as we re-open this summer. We are exploring several creative options for staging a fabulous show, while maintaining the safety of our cast and audiences. We hope to begin limited rehearsals – perhaps a combination of virtual and in-person in small groups – sometime in June! All details coming soon as the state guidelines for businesses and group gatherings are announced this month and we finalize our plans.
GREASEPAINT 2020 SENIORS: we have not forgotten you! How could we?!?! In addition to gala, we have some ideas in the works for fun and to honor you, so watch your emails and keep those voices strong!
SURVEY UPDATE: thank you to all who completed the survey and shared your opinions with us. Your perspectives helped us make decisions and balance our focus on caution with the strong desire to re-open the theater as soon as possible.
OUR THANKS: during this unprecedented time in our world, I can only marvel at the power of the arts to bring people together AND the incredible strength of our Greasepaint community to rally around our theater and our artists. YOU have lifted us up with pictures, notes, songs, videos. YOU have inspired us to do things differently to keep the creative process alive. YOU have supported us through donations, ticket sales, and an unprecedented online auction that has quite literally sustained us. YOU are the reason for hope. I can’t wait to see YOU on the stage (or in the audience) again very soon.
All our best,
Artistic Director SCP/Greasepaint
