One of the things that makes our theatre truly special isn’t just what happens onstage – it’s what happens over time.
Stagebrush Theatre, the home of resident troupes Greasepaint Youth Theatre and Scottsdale Community Players (SCP), embodies a circular community. A living, growing ecosystem where young student actors take their first steps onto the stage, build confidence and craft, and then carry those skills out into the world. Some become adult performers. Some become directors, educators, leaders, and creators in the wider community. And remarkably often, they come back.
They come back to act.
To teach.
To mentor.
To direct.
To support.
To give the next generation what they themselves were given.
That cycle – learning, growing, leaving, and returning – is this historic theatre’s superpower.
Our alum spotlights celebrate that full lifecycle. They remind us that our theatre isn’t just a place you perform for a season. It’s a place you grow up in. A place that shapes who you are as an artist and as a human. A place that stays with you long after the curtain comes down.
For many alumni, Greasepaint Youth Theatre was a second home. A touchstone. And it’s a space where they are always welcome back – whether they’re stepping back onstage, offering guidance backstage, or simply showing up to cheer on the next wave of young performers.
That continuity matters. It’s how knowledge is passed down. It’s how standards are upheld. It’s how community theatre becomes more than a program – it becomes a legacy.
When our alumni return, they’re not just revisiting the past. They’re investing in the future. And that is what keeps Stagebrush/Greasepaint/SCP strong, connected, and endlessly renewing.
We’re proud of every chapter of that journey – and grateful for every alum who continues to walk it with us.
