When auditions opened for Hadestown – Teen Edition, we expected high interest. And we got it!

 

More than 90 of the Valley’s strongest teen performers came forward – each ready to bring preparation, focus, and a deep respect for the material – to compete for approximately 20 cast positions. Those are pre-covid audition numbers, folks! These are the best-of-the-best young artists ready to be challenged.

A Brief Look at Hadestown – Teen Edition

Hadestown is a powerful, contemporary retelling of ancient Greek myths, woven together with a haunting score inspired by New Orleans jazz, folk, and blues.

The story follows two intertwined love stories:

• Orpheus and Eurydice, navigating sacrifice, fear, and the fragile promise of hope
• Hades and Persephone, wrestling with power, balance, and longing

At its heart, Hadestown asks timeless questions:
What does it cost to choose hope? What happens when fear takes the lead? And how do we hold onto love in a world that keeps testing it?

Why This Matters for Youth Theatre

This level of turnout speaks volumes – not just about the popularity of the show, but about the caliber of young artists in our community. These teens aren’t simply auditioning for a role. They’re stepping into material that demands maturity, vulnerability, and true collaboration.
